Banks help investors win

$400 million in Alaskan oil money may buy foreclosed Orlando homes

By Mary Shanklin, Orlando Sentinel
A California investment group that has bought more foreclosed homes at public auction in the Orlando area than anyone else, by far, is poised to accelerate its purchases of distressed properties with $400 million in oil money from the state of Alaska.
American Homes 4 Rent has purchased about 1,000 foreclosed houses in hard-hit states, including 150 houses since the start of the year in Orange County alone through the county court clerk's online foreclosure auctions — 10 times more than any other third-party buyer in the county.
