After almost three years of wrestling with Chase Bank on our house the short sale closed yesterday. In that three year period not once did Chase Bank ever offer to modify, reduce principle, or work with us, the homeowner, in any way. None, nothing, except harassing phone calls. Yet for the short sale they willingly took 82% of what we owed. This is how the banks choose to work with the homeowner, by throwing them out, either by foreclosure or short sale. They will work with another party but not the homeowner. And all the programs to assist homeowners are nothing but political rhetoric and buying their way out of any wrong doing. It is truly pathetic. I continue to urge any American who banks with any of the large institutions to move your money to a small bank or credit union.
