The first snow fall in Park City that sent me looking for a job then surprised Dennis. I told him I wanted to get back into the mortgage business. I would do it different. I would go to work for a company who wasn’t psycho crazy about production and understood for me that family came first. I interviewed with two local companies First Security Bank and Norwest Mortgage. Both offered me a loan officer position at a hundred percent commission. I chose Norwest as at the time it was a nationally known company and the upside to the flexibility of me scheduling my own hours was tremendous. Breaking into a small town market was much harder than I thought; everyone knew everyone and relationships were tight. It was a lot of cold calling, presentations, taking agents to lunch, picking away, like in a silver mine, to try and unearth someone willing to give me a shot. At the same time I was doing this I was helping Dennis try to develop his business and raising two kids.
