Even with the financial crisis I believed in the government. I believed they would work to fix things and it would be like other tough times for us, we would wait it out. I tried to stay in the mortgage business for almost another year but the landscape had changed so drastically it was hard to even get a perfect buyer or borrower a loan. Most of the product we needed for the Park City market like condo hotel loans and jumbo money had simply disappeared. Construction loans had also vanished. It was like sticking needles in my eye to try and get anything funded. More and more regulation was coming down the line for brokers and again I saw the writing on the wall. The banks tried to blame the crisis on the realtors, mortgage brokers, appraisers, anyone but themselves, and the government was implementing more rules we were required to follow. The finger pointing was a perfect way for the banks to put brokers out of business and though I didn’t know it then it is basically what they have done.
