Late in 2008 when the government announced the 700 billion bailout to the banks, to help the people, I was relieved. I thought thank God the banks will try to work with us. I started contacting the banks and asking about what kind of assistance they were going to offer but no one knew anything. I kept searching in the news to find some explanation of what this money meant to American’s and could find nothing. I kept going through saving to keep the existing mortgages up. In June of 2009 I knew we were in trouble. We were going to exhaust all our saving except for about one hundred and seventy five thousand in IRA’s. Again I got on the phone with the banks and explained where we were. I explained we wanted to keep the properties and fulfill our obligation but we were going to need some help. I was told straight across the board that no one would even talk to us until we were three months in default. I was dumbfounded. First off, any bank, anywhere, should be sued for that advice. As I see it without the proper licensing they were giving a form of financial and legal advice. They were telling me to ruin my credit in order to be able to talk with anyone.
